“The Three Sisters”—also known as “The Hundred Mile Loop” (RR335, RR336, & RR337)—are renowned as some of the most exhilarating motorcycle roads in the Texas Hill Country. These routes are the ultimate choice for avid riders seeking a thrilling experience. However, they are not recommended for new or cautious riders due to their challenging nature.
Key Features
- Road Conditions: The Three Sisters traverse canyons and jagged, steep hills, featuring tight, twisty curves with sheer drop-offs and minimal guard rails. The section spanning about 15 miles includes approximately 65 curves.
- Scenic Views: For experienced riders, this route offers breathtaking panoramic views. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the stunning landscapes.
Recommended Routes
- Three Sisters Loop
- Route: From Leakey, take Ranch Road 336 North to Highway 41. Turn left onto 335 South, which merges with Highway 55. Continue south to Camp Wood, then take 337 East back to Leakey.
- Distance: Approximately 95 miles
- The Hunt Loop
- Route: From Leakey, take Ranch Road 337 north, then turn east on 39 through Hunt. Visit the Motorcycle Museum on Ranch Road 187. Continue east to Kerrville, then take Highway 27 back to Kerrville. From there, take 16 to Medina, then 337 West back to Leakey.
- Distance: About 125 miles
- Note: Top off your fuel tank before leaving Leakey and again when passing through Hunt or Kerrville.
- Utopia Loop
- Route: From Leakey, take Ranch Road 337 to Medina, then go south on 16 into Bandera. Take 470 out of Bandera to Ranch Road 187 and head south into Utopia. Continue on 1050 to Highway 83, and then north on 83 back to Leakey.
- Distance: Around 100 miles

- Lone Star Motorcycle Museum: Located in Vanderpool, this museum showcases a diverse collection of motorcycles from the 1910s to the present. It also features the Ace Cafe, offering gourmet hamburgers, Aussie meat pies, and more. Admission is $5 for adults.
- Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop: Situated in Leakey, this recently opened spot is a great place to relax. The owners describe it as an “oasis in the middle of nowhere.”
- Lost Maples State Natural Area: Covering 2,174.2 acres in Bandera and Real Counties, this scenic area on the Sabinal River is ideal for nature lovers.
- Stonehenge II: An art project near Hunt, Texas, this replica is 90% as wide and 60% as tall as the original Stonehenge. Visitors can walk around and admire this unique attraction.
